On Dec. 1st, 2022, ASEF partnered with UnfreezeAfghanistan for a second time, and held a successful event on “The Impact of Climate Change on Afghanistan”. The event was heard by over 750 people, and it highlighted the impact of climate change (with a focus on water shortages), on the Afghan people. It explored the socio-economic impact, healthcare impact, the regional dynamics, COP27 exclusion, and security impact. The speakers were renowned water and climate change experts, as well as policy experts from the region. The session concluded by identifying the low hanging fruits and solutions that needs to be considered by the international community as well as Afghanistan’s defacto government.
